How to play

The goal

Players take turns placing their token (X or O) on the board. The first to line up their tokens in a row — across, down or diagonally — wins the round. A full board with no line is a draw.

  • 3 × 3 classic: get 3 in a row.
  • 4 × 4: get 4 in a row.
  • 5 × 5: get 4 in a row.

Game modes

  • vs Computer — four levels from Easy to Unbeatable. On 3 × 3, Unbeatable never loses: a draw is a great result!
  • Pass & Play — two people share one phone.
  • Online — host a game to get a 6-letter code, send it to a friend, and they join from their phone. Chat with 💬 during the game.

Tips

  • Take the centre early on 3 × 3 — it is part of four winning lines.
  • Create a fork: two threats at once can’t both be blocked.
  • Always check whether your opponent is one move from winning.

Customise

In Settings choose a background (or your own photo), the token style and the speed of play.
